7 reasons why attending Queen’s Park Day is a good idea

Use the day to push for health-care solutions

Doctors are heading to Queen’s Park to push for solutions to the crisis in health care – and you’re invited to take part.

Slated for Monday, Oct. 21, the OMA’s Queen’s Park Day promises to be a day packed full of meetings with MPPs from all parties and is a chance for you to lead change.

There are still spots open this year. Here are seven reasons you should consider joining in:

  1. Be a change maker. Use your leadership skills to help shape a better health-care system for you and your patients
  2. Be a voice for patients. Not everyone has a voice. Speak up for seniors, new Canadians, Indigenous Peoples and those with mental health issues who aren’t able to speak for themselves
  3. You know the issues. From the frontlines, your first-hand knowledge of where the problems lie in the system gives you the authority to ask for change
  4. You have credibility. You are well-respected members of your communities and politicians trust you. Leverage that to press for solutions
  5. Open up new doors. Taking part in Queen’s Park Day could lead to other opportunities, such as joining an OMA committee or working group on health policy or other top issues
  6. You’ll be well supported. Information sessions, toolkits and advice from your peers are all available to help you get the most out of the day
  7. Make lasting connections. You’ll be part of a team of like-minded colleagues who may become life-long friends and people to turn to for peer-to-peer supports throughout your career
