Are you our next physician leader?

Our section engagement and regional management teams are here to support elected physician leaders in their role

Are you thinking of running for a physician leadership position, but wondering how you could fit it in on top of everything else? With nominations now open in the 2024-25 OMA elections, we have many supports to help you succeed in your new role as an elected leader.

Our team has you covered

If you're considering putting your name forward for a role in an OMA constituency group (section, district or fora), know that your section engagement and regional management teams are here to support elected leaders with:

  • Planning and attending meetings and offering advice to help support and inform the work of your constituency group
  • Supporting two-way information exchange between constituency group executives and the OMA on issues that matter most to members
  • Identifying issues and escalating them within the OMA to help develop solutions
  • Supporting constituency priorities (ex. proposals by the Physician Payment Committee or Negotiations Task Force)
  • Helping you bring together your members for meaningful activities to learn, share and build stronger connections amongst them
  • Engaging or managing relationships with key local health-system leaders and external speciality-based associations
  • Helping you advocate for your members on matters that are important to the profession
  • Sharing updates on OMA initiatives, services and policies

Check out what District 1 chair Dr. Albert Ng says in this video about the support he’s received from the OMA in his role and learn more about the support available to physician leaders. Also, read more about the roles and functions of the sections, districts and fora at the OMA.

The nomination process for 2024-25 OMA elections closes on Dec. 3 at 5 p.m. EST. Learn more about how to begin your nomination for the constituency leader position on the elections web page.
