The OMA has released the first instalment in a four-part e-learning series to help members navigate the complexities of hospital-based practice. “Unit 1: Rules and Regulations for Hospital-Based Physicians” is now available on the OMA Education Network.
The unit explores rules relevant to hospital-based practice, including provincial legislation, hospital by-laws, and professional staff rules, regulations, and policies.

As with all learning modules available on the OMA Education Network, Unit 1 is interactive, can be completed on a desktop computer, tablet, or mobile phone, and is available free to members.
Developed under the leadership of the OMA Hospital Issues Committee, this 1-credit-per-hour, self-learning program has been certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada for up to 1 Mainpro+® credits. This activity is also an accredited self-assessment program (Section 3) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and approved by the University of Ottawa’s Office of Continuing Professional Development. You may claim a maximum of 1.0 hour (credits are automatically calculated).
