The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario is accepting nominations for the 2021 Council Award until Monday, Sept. 28, 2020, at 5 p.m.
Through this award, the CPSO honours outstanding Ontario physicians who have demonstrated excellence and embody society’s vision of an “ideal physician.”
Four award recipients are selected each year who reflect the diversity of Ontario physicians, considering aspects such as specialty, practice setting, populations served and career stage.
The criteria for selecting a physician for the Council Award are based on the Royal College’s CanMEDS framework’s seven physician roles, which are identified as the essential qualities needed to practice modern medicine.
The Council Award recognizes physicians whose performance in these roles is outstanding, acknowledging that they may demonstrate more extensive expertise in some roles than in others. The seven roles include:
