It is with great sadness that we announce that Dr. Richard G. Lalonde, originally from Bourget, Ont., age 78, passed away peacefully from stomach cancer in Montreal on Oct. 2, 2024.
Son of the late Pierre U. Lalonde and Laurine Lalonde, he is survived by his loving wife Sharon Brissette, his four children Jean-François (Jennifer), Stéphan (Lulù), Danièle (Nicholas) and Catherine (Evan), several grandchildren, four brothers, one sister, numerous nieces and nephews and a first wife, Lynne Berlinguette-Lalonde. He was a physician, teacher, researcher and administrator.
One of his greatest adventures was his year as a professor in the Faculty of Medicine at Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia. The family sincerely thanks the thoracic surgery, oncology and palliative care teams at the McGill University Health Centre, Dr. Kapusta, ophthalmologist at the Jewish General Hospital (JGH), and Marissa Carnavale, head nurse (JGH), for their empathy, professionalism and the quality of service and care they provided.
