In memoriam
Dec. 5, 2024

Dr. Raj Chopra

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Raj K. Chopra on Dec. 5, 2024. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, service and dedication to others.

Dr. Chopra is now reunited with his beloved wife of 53 years, Amrit Chopra. Loving father of Anu LoCricchio (Matthew), and Rajeev Chopra (Monica). Proudest grandfather of Rohan, Serena, Selena, Logan, Nikhil, Joshan and Jayen.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, he lived his life guided by the principles of hard work, honesty and compassion.

Dr. Chopra was born and raised in Burma. From humble beginnings, he grew into a man of extraordinary character. He completed medical school in Rangoon before fleeing the military coup and landing in New Delhi, where he met the love of his life and eternal companion, Amrit. He immigrated to England and then to Canada - first to Alberta, then to London, Moose Factory, and finally to his hometown of Windsor, Ont.

Dr. Chopra’s medical practice was more than just a career. It was his calling. He was a devoted physician to his many patients, opening his heart and home to anyone in need. He served the community as an anesthesiologist at Windsor Western and Metropolitan hospitals and as a family doctor at Windsor Medical Clinics.

Dr. Chopra lived with great gratitude, often referring to himself as “lucky.” He felt lucky and blessed to be able to help the sick, to be surrounded by loving family and friends, and to have visited all the places in the world he ever wanted to with his soulmate, Amrit.

Though our hearts are heavy with his loss, we are comforted knowing that his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched, the lessons he imparted, and the love he gave so freely. He will be dearly missed by all.

Condolences and photos can be shared online at the Families First Funeral Home and Tribute Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dr. Chopra's honour to the Downtown Mission of Windsor, a cause dear to the hearts of Amrit and Raj Chopra.
