Dr. Ronald Webb passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home on June 17, 2024.
Ron was born on Dec. 19, 1946, in Toronto where he was raised as an only child by loving parents Gladys and Bill Webb.
Ron was the quintessential lifelong learner. He studied engineering at the University of Toronto before entering medicine at Queens University (Queens '73). He completed his family practice at McMaster and opened his first practice in Timmins, Ont., in 1975.
In 1978, Ron, his wife, Valerie, and their three young children moved from Timmins to Carleton Place, Ont. For the next 30 years, Ron practised family medicine and raised his family there. He loved the art and science of family medicine but mostly he loved connecting with people and hearing their stories. Ron was an integral part of the Carleton Place medical community where he made deep friendships, mentored future doctors and cared for his patients.
After three decades of practice in Carleton Place, Ron and Val moved to Guelph, Ont., to be closer to their grandchildren. They established roots in the community through their church and volunteer work. Ron was an avid ham radio enthusiast and became a member of the Guelph ham radio community. He also taught many kids to read at Brant Avenue Public School as a volunteer reading tutor.
Ron’s love and guidance is deeply missed by his wife, Val, and his children Rebecca (Tim), Dan (Zucca), and Jessica (Jen). He could not have been a prouder grandfather to David, Owen, Tas and Eleanor. His grandchildren knew how much he loved them because he showed them in so many ways. In his life, Ron became the big brother, uncle, father figure, mentor and friend that so many needed.
