Dr. Paul Kolodej suddenly and unexpectedly passed away at Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto, on March 21, 2023, age 72, due to brief illness. He was born in Slovakia and educated in Edmonton at the University of Alberta, where he joined his family in 1967.
Dr. Paul Kolodej BSc, M.D., surgery, fellowship in surgery, MSc in experimental surgery, PhD candidate in experimental surgery, ABEM, was a highly achieved medical doctor with a distinguished career dedicated to the advancement of science and medicine, with multiple patents, publications, teaching residents and medical students and working at foremost hospitals in Edmonton, Toronto, Boston, MA-lifelong affiliation, and Emory affiliated hospitals in Georgia, associated with founders of pain medicine.
He was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Augustin Kolodej and Veronika Kolodej (Chrenek Pucat); and is survived by Dr. Vera Kolodej and Dagmar Kolodej, and large extended family of many cousins, uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews in Canada, U.S. and Europe.
