Dr. Michael Joseph Emond of Kincardine, Ont., an esteemed physician, loving husband and cherished grandfather, passed away suddenly, with his family by his side, at Victoria Hospital in London, Ont., on July 8, 2024. He was 70.
Michael was born on July 29, 1953, to the late Walter and Dorothy Emond.
Michael married his high school sweetheart and best friend, June. They spent a wonderful 49 years together. After graduating from medicine from the University of Toronto, they moved together to Kincardine in 1979. Even in the end, he was able to experience one last adventure – taking the air ambulance with June to the hospital in London.
Michael’s greatest joy, however, was his family. With his wife, June, they raised three children: Reid (Noriko), Leslie (Chris) and Ryan (Kayla). He adored his role as a proud grandfather to his seven grandchildren: Ryo, Noa, Taiyo, Abigail, Thalia, Scarlett and Austin.
Additionally, he is survived by his two sisters, Mary and Theresa (Roger), his mother-in-law, Louise, in-laws Linda (Ian) and David (Lynne), along with many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Celina (Jack), his father-in-law Eldred, and brother-in-law Manoel.
