It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dr. Marcel X. Bissonnette who passed away peacefully at the multi-centre SSS of Argenteuil, Que., on March 3, 2024, at the age of 91.
Loved by his late wife Noëlla Léger, adored by his three children, Marcel fils (Claude Rémillard), Louise (Guy Lépine) and Michel (Lyne Chouinard), by his two grandchildren, Charles-Antoine (Vanessa Racine) and Audrée, and his two great-granddaughters, Amélia and Rosalie. Predeceased by his sister and brother, Alyne (late Théodore Chartrand) and Fernand (late Pauline Parisien), he also leaves his sister Yolande (late Mozart Desforges), many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews and nieces, as well as many friends.
Born in Plantagenet, Ont., on Nov. 3, 1932, Marcel X. was a kind, just and respectful man.
In 1965, the Argenteuil Hospital in Lachute, Que. became his "promised land." A specialist in general surgery, he listened to and accompanied the people of Lachute, then Hawkesbury, Sainte-Anne des Monts, La Sarre and from Chibougamau. For him, treating and alleviating ailments responded to the call of a salutary mission, where work and love came together.
Receiving and giving back. From 1971 onwards, his existential gratitude manifested itself in daily gestures within the Lachute Lions Club. Becoming a Lion meant experiencing self-sacrifice and knowing that altruism counts. Elevated to the rank of governor of District A-8 (1990-1991), he will have served; he will have helped the other to carry the weight which prevents him from living. He loved to “serve”; he loved life as it is.
At the family's request, donations in memory of Marcel X. can be made to the Argenteuil Hospital Foundation, 145, ave de la Providence, Lachute, QC. J8H 4C7 fha@ssss.gouv.qc.ca. Forms will be available at the complex.
