Passed away peacefully on Friday, June 7 at the age of 74. Beloved husband of the late Dianne (Whitmore) Bocking. Loved father of Andrew (Andrea), Steven (Candace) and Kathryn (Nathan Johnston). Cherished grandfather of Bradley, Timothy, Cora, Landon, Devon and Claire. Dear brother of Barbara (John Thompson), Bruce (Elizabeth), Alan (Barb), Don (Anne), Bob (Barb) and sister-in-law Lynne (Bob Geddes). Lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews. Cared for by Soumaly in his later years.
Ken was born in Hawkesbury, Ont., on Jan. 21, 1950, son of the late Douglas and Vivian (Dixon) Bocking. He was a vascular and general surgeon at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital for close to 30 years, where he saved countless lives while being known for his kind and caring manner. He was also chief of the medical staff for a number of years at St. Thomas. Outside of work, he loved spending summers at his family cottage in Muskoka, supporting his children's extracurricular activities, promoting the prevention of concussions in sports, serving on the St. Thomas Police Service Board and more recently being a member of the Golden K Club and Knox Presbyterian Church.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
