Dr. James Gerard McGarragle passed away on Dec. 6, 2023, surrounded by his family. Son of the late Corneilus and Margaret McGarragle and brother to the late Dr. Terence McGarragle and late Dr. Maurice McGarragle. Beloved husband to Denise and devoted father to James (Mariam), Kaitlin (Milad), and Kevin. Proud grandfather to Mina and Nora.
Gerard served the Scarborough community for 33 years as a family physician and was known for his tireless dedication to his patients. Outside of his work, he had an affinity for philosophy, learning, and martial arts. He was also an avid hockey fan and he enjoyed the years he spent coaching hockey, baseball and football. Gerard was a talented musician, and at family gatherings, he could be found playing the guitar and singing the hits of Bob Dylan, the Beatles and Neil Young.
Gerard will be remembered for being a man of great intellect, compassion, and integrity. Above all, he loved and was loved by his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
