Jacob Shin, 41, returned to his heavenly home on June 15, 2024, after a valiant battle with colon cancer. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Jacob was born in South Korea on November 13, 1982, and immigrated to Canada with his family when he was in Grade 1. He received his calling to be a doctor when he was a young boy, studied diligently to graduate from the University of Toronto and completed medical school at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea.
In 2014, Jacob officially commenced on his purpose to be a physician at Mackenzie Health Richmond Hill Hospital and fulfilled God's purpose until the end at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital. He was not only a skilled and very caring physician, but also known for his compassion and dedication to all his patients and colleagues. He was a kind, intelligent and gentle soul and was a true fan of the Toronto Raptors.
Jacob was blessed with a loving family. He married the love of his life, Marie Park, and raised his two young children, Sophie and Joel, with patience, discipline and humility. Jacob is survived by his proud parents, Young Sung and Jung Hee; his sister, Rebecca (Desmond); and his niece, Cecilia. Also, Jacob is survived by his wonderful in-laws, Young Joon and Sukja; and his sister-in-law, Kathleen (Alex).
Jacob is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.
