Dr. Donald Baine (DB) Jennings — M.D., C.M., M.Sc. (Med), Ph.D., Queen's medical school ('57) emeritus professor, faculty of medicine, Queen's University — July 20, 1932 to Jan. 28, 2024.
Dr. Jennings passed away peacefully on Jan. 28, 2024, in a hospital room overlooking the Queen's University campus where he spent his career and met his wife of 66 years.
Dr. Jennings will be missed by his loving wife, Gail (née Richardson); children, Robert (Marie, d. 2014), Beth (John), Lisa (Dexter) and Hugh; eight grandchildren; and his sister, Elizabeth Hooper (Donald d. 2019).
Dr. Jennings was passionate about cardio-respiratory physiology, Queen's University, family genealogy, hunting and fishing, duck carving and painting, and, of course, his family. His second home and continual project with Gail was the Crow Lake cottage (Wit's End) and involvement in the Crow Lake community. He took joy in having "a tight roof." Dr. Jennings took particular pleasure in mentoring and advocating for graduate students, striving to enhance their research experience and international exposure in order to facilitate their future success. He felt strongly about the importance of supporting academic and professional organizations and served on many of their committees.
