Charlie Monk, a man of boundless love and diverse talents, passed away peacefully at the age of 72 after a brave battle with cancer. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, but his spirit and zest for life will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Born in Worthing, England and raised in Sarnia, Ont., Charlie was a beloved husband, a cherished father, and papa, a loyal friend, and an inspiration to many. His life was a testament to his many passions, which included racecar driving, practising medicine, flying planes, travelling the world, skiing, his profound love for animals and, of course, his family. His adventurous spirit and compassionate nature were evident in every aspect of his life.
Charlie encouraged those wishing to celebrate his life by doing something they love with the people they love most. In his memory, go for a drive, hit the slopes, or simply spend time with the ones you cherish.
As an avid animal lover, often surrounded by the sounds of purring cats and barking dogs, his passion for animals was infectious, and he passed this love on to his children and grandchildren.
Instead of flowers or other gestures, Charlie has requested that you make a donation to the SPCA or Sarnia & District Humane Society in honour of his dog "Skootchie Boy” and in his name. Alternatively, as a recognition of the exceptional care provided by St. Joseph's Hospice during Charlie's final days, the Monks have asked for donations to be made to the hospice itself. These contributions will ensure that others facing similar circumstances receive compassionate support and help create a lasting legacy of kindness in Charlie's honor.
Charlie Monk lived his life to the fullest, and his legacy will continue to inspire us to do the same. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by his kindness and spirit. He will be deeply missed.
