It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Catalino Jr. "Jun" on Dec. 25, 2023, at the age of 86. Son of Catalino Sr. and Tecla Garcia Palad, Dr. Palad, was born in the city of Tayabas, in the province of Quezon, Philippines, on Nov. 25, 1937. He was predeceased by his three sisters, Esen, Antonia and Angelita; and his brother, Jose.
Dr. Palad's medical training took him from Manila to Rochester, N.Y., to Montreal and Toronto. He joined the Malton Medical Centre where he practised as a family physician for over 40 years, also practising at the Peel Memorial Hospital (now the Brampton Civic Hospital).
Dr. Palad truly cared for his patients, their families and the staff and physicians he worked with. Dr. Palad worked hard to establish a life in these communities: he was generous, mischievous and just the right amount of stubborn. He connected with people easily and was always looking for an opportunity to make them smile.
He was a loving partner to Louise (née Cousineau) for 53 years; a caring and committed father to Marcella (Michael), Enrique (deceased, 2005) and Isabelle (Matthew); and loved by his grandchildren, Estella, Oscar, Lucas and Tecla. He will be greatly missed by his sister-in-law, Asuncion; and nephews, Leopold, Vincent and Jo-Al.
Donations in Dr. Palad's memory can be made to the Headwaters Health Care Foundation or Food Banks Canada.
Louise and family would like to thank Dr. Akula, Dr. Candusso and the hardworking staff at the Headwaters Health Care Centre for their support during Jun's time in their care.
Condolences may be offered to the family online.
