Stephen peacefully passed away at Bluewater Health, Sarnia, with family by his side. Predeceased by his parents Fred and Anne Williams and sister Judith Campbell. Deeply missed by his beloved wife of 56 years, Olivia. Lovingly remembered by his four children: Dawn (Libor), Lorna (Andrew), Susan and Peter (Sala), and four grandchildren: Andrew, Amanda, Daniel and Aidan. Survived by family in the U.K. including his sister Gaynor and cousins Rod and Philip.
Stephen was born in Stockport, England, and trained as a doctor in Cardiff, Wales. He moved with Olivia and their young family to Canada in 1972. After working as a pathologist for several years in St. John's, Nfld., the family relocated to Sarnia. Stephen was a caring, kind and intelligent man with deeply held convictions. He worked as the highly respected lead pathologist and director of the lab at St. Joseph Hospital Sarnia for 40 years. All who knew him and worked with him as colleagues and friends remember him fondly.
Stephen was an amazing gardener. Working in his large vegetable garden at home brought him great joy throughout his life. His many hobbies included walking, biking, swimming in the lake, reading and especially in later years, charitable volunteer work, travel/cruises with Olivia and singing as a member of the Polysar Glee Club. He was a committed Christian with a strong faith in God. Above all, Stephen loved his family and every decision he made in life was rooted in this love.
Simply put, he was the best husband and father that anyone could wish for and we will all miss him immensely.
