A life well-lived has ended. It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Dr. Srini Chary, a dedicated physician and family man. He practised and taught medicine until the day he was diagnosed with ALS. In his typical manner of determination and stubbornness, he challenged the status quo and kept busy with research to fight this debilitating disease.
Srini passed on April 15, 2023, in his Saskatoon home, surrounded by family. He leaves behind a saddened family, who accompanied him on this difficult journey, but are relieved that he is now at peace. Francis (Erin), Patrick and Brianna lost a kind and caring father, while Lewis, James and Felicity will miss their Appa and his quiet demeanour. Gertrud will have to continue without her husband and his ever-present smile.
As per his wishes, Srini was cremated on the day of his death and his ashes were sent home to India, where the family performed appropriate rituals to honour his heritage and beliefs.
We would like to thank family and friends everywhere for their kind support, generosity and outpouring of sympathy. Equally important, we cannot be more grateful to the Saskatoon ALS Clinic and the ALS Society of Saskatchewan.
