Dr. Lawson John Thomas Pearson passed away peacefully at his Seacliff Manor residence in Leamington on Dec. 26, 2022, at the age of 93.
Predeceased by his beloved wife of 61 years, Janet Pearson. Loving father of Lynne Towle (Tim) and Michael Pearson (Kristine). Adored grandfather of Sandy (Jess), Chris, James (Lynsey), Drew (Stephanie) and Scott. Proud great-grandfather of Quinn and Jakob.
John and Janet were married in 1957 and later arrived in Canada from England in 1959, finally settling in Leamington in 1961. John studied medicine at the University of Birmingham, graduating in 1954. He put in countless hours, many in the days of house calls, managing a large family practice as a partner with the Leamington Medical Center, and finally retiring at 75.
Over much of this time, John was also the chief anesthesiologist at the Leamington District Memorial Hospital, with another 15 of those years spent juggling the additional responsibility as the Chief of the Emergency Department.
During his youth, John was an avid rugby player, playing for his school and later the Dudley Kingswinford Rugby Football Club. In later life, his sport of choice turned to golf, which John enjoyed playing with Janet, friends and other family members at the Erie Shores Golf and Country Club and, when at their winter home, the Seven Springs Golf and Country Club in Florida. Both John and Janet enjoyed travelling extensively and took many memorable trips over their many years together.
Special thank you to Dr. Bob Simpson and the staff of the Seacliff Manor. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Erie Shores Health Foundation or the Salvation Army may be made by contacting the Reid Funeral Home and Reception Centre, 14 Russel Street, Leamington (519-326-2631).
