Dr. Ewan Cameron McPherson, aged 80 of Huntsville, Ont., passed away Friday, March 10, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Dundee, Scotland, he was the only son of the late Alexander McPherson and Margaret Hepburn Mclagan. Ewan grew up in Dundee, Scotland, completing all of his medical training there. In the early 1970's he travelled to Bermuda to take a position as a physician there where he met his wife Marjorie which resulted in the pair travelling back to Majorie's home in Nova Scotia and eventually settling in Huntsville, Ont., to raise their large family.

Ewan served as a community general physician in Huntsville for years but then decided to go into business for himself and with a partner began doing private anesthetics for dentists travelling all over the province. He was one of the first anesthesiologists to offer this service in Ontario. As a prominent figure in Huntsville as the local 'Doc' he was so often seen biking around town, to and from work and after retirement all over North America as was his passion. He was passionate about hypnotism and used it in his daily life to aid him in all aspects. He was a lifelong student in this pursuit, attending Universities, courses and conferences throughout his lifetime. In his later years, Ewan could be found on the bike trail, reading a good book, visiting his kids and getting his grandchildren worked up with a chase or tickle. He will be remembered fondly and deeply missed by all.

He is survived by his children Alex (Kathy) and their children Brandon, Victoria, Ewan and Caleb, Edmonton Alta.; Isla (Garrett) and their children Taleigh and Griffin, Guelph Ont.; Katie (Jordan) and their children Cameron, Blare, Sawyer and Hazel, Cambridge Ont.; Colin(Melissa) and their children Ella and Aiden, Mississauga Ont.; his sisters Morag (Hugh), Alexandra (Brian) and Rona (Jeremy).

The family is holding a private celebration of life for Ewan at a later date. Donations in memory of Ewan can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice.
