It is with great sorrow that Minole and Nikhil Jasani announce that on Thursday, March 16, 2023, their beloved father, Dr. Bharat Kumar Pragji Jasani, treasured son of Pragjibhai Narayanji Jasani and Rambaben Pragji Naranji Jasani, passed away at Timmins and District Hospital. He was in the presence of his children when he passed on peacefully.
Bharat was born on Feb. 7, 1948, in Nairobi, Kenya. He spent his childhood in East Africa until moving to Portsmouth, England, to complete his high school education. In 1967, he began his university education at the University of Glasgow in Glasgow, Scotland, where he remained until he qualified as a medical physician. He then immigrated to Canada, spending a year in Toronto, Ont., before settling in Northern Ontario. He practised in Hearst before relocating to Timmins in 1981, where he spent the majority of his career. Practising medicine was not just an occupation for Bharat, it was something he truly loved. From the scientific aspects to the people, being a physician truly brought joy to his heart.
Culinary arts, photography and travel were at the top of Bharat’s list of many passions; however, nothing was dearer to his heart than the people in his life, especially his two children. Bharat and his generous, kind, loving and loyal spirit, as well as his wonderful sense of humour, will be greatly missed. The sun shines less brightly now, but a great soul is at peace.
