Dr. Vivien Brown is a family physician, well-known international speaker, and best-selling author of “A Woman’s Guide to Healthy Aging.” She is active in numerous organizations including as vice president, North America for the Medical Women’s International Association; past president of the Federation of Medical Women of Canada; former Chair of the Consumer Education Committee for the North American Menopause Society; board member of the Women’s Brain Health Initiative. She has participated on several provincial and federal advisory bodies, including Immunize Canada.
Dr. Brown’s has received extensive recognition for her work, including 2012 Family Physician of the Year (Toronto region) from the Ontario College of Family Physicians; the prestigious Enid Johnson MacLeod Award by the Federation of Medical Women of Canada for teaching in women’s health; the University of Toronto’s Excellence in Continuing Professional Community Development; The 2018 NAMS Media Award for promotion of women’s health; and the May Cohen Award from the Federation of Medical Women of Canada for mentorship and leadership in women’s health.
The focus of Dr. Brown’s speaking engagements includes stress in the workplace and stress management, health promotion and healthy aging, osteoporosis prevention, menopause, women’s health, reducing cancer risks and prevention, adult immunization and vaccine-preventable diseases.
