Dr. Gofeld developed Ontario’s first collaborative pain management program for palliative care at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. He has authored 48 peer-reviewed publications, wrote numerous book chapters, and has served as a member of editorial boards of several prestigious scientific journals. Dr. Gofeld founded the Interventional Special Interest Group at the Canadian Pain Society and developed Canada’s first continuing medical education program for practicing pain physicians.
Dr. Gofeld completed a residency program in anesthesiology at the University of Tel Aviv in 2001, and fellowship training in chronic pain at the University of Toronto in 2005. Dr. Gofeld worked at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre until 2008 and then became director of clinical operations at the Center for Pain Relief at the University of Washington in Seattle.
Dr. Gofeld returned to Ontario in 2013 and joined the Department of Anesthesia at the University of Toronto and contributed to the development of the Toronto Academic Pain Medicine Institute. He served as an interim medical director of the Women’s College Pain Clinic, an advisor on chronic pain at the Department of Anesthesia, and as vice-chair of the chronic pain registry committee at the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
