Dr. Michael Cheng is a psychiatrist at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, where he helps families cope with modern society by helping them (re)attach to nature, people and other things that give purpose and meaning. Dr. Cheng also serves as an associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Ottawa.
He is the co-founder of eMentalHealth.ca, which provides information to families and professionals about mental health and resources. As a parent, he knows first-hand the challenge of staying connected to nature and fellow humans in an increasingly virtual world, and now the added challenge that pandemic parenting has brought us.
Dr. Cheng has received numerous awards including the Naomi Rae Grant Award from the Canadian Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CACAP) for innovation and creativity in the area of child/youth mental health.
