Dr. Mel Borins is the author of Go Away Just for the Health of It and An Apple a Day: A Holistic Health Primer and A Doctor’s Guide to Alternative Medicine: What Works, What Doesn’t and Why. He has also written hundreds of articles featured in many respected medical journals, including Postgraduate Medical Journal, Canadian Family Physician, Canadian Medical Association Journal, and New Zealand Family Physician. He has written extensively on stress management, psychotherapy, acupuncture, traditional healing, herbs and complementary medicine.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Borins is on staff at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto. He is a fellow of the College of Family Physicians of Canada, and associate professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto. Dr. Borins received the Theratree Award from the Medical Psychotherapy Association for his outstanding contribution to the education of physicians in the field of psychotherapy. He also received an award for Excellence in Continuing Education from the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto in recognition of his contributions to the professional development program.
