Dr. Aliya Khan is a clinical professor of medicine in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism and the Division of Geriatric Medicine at McMaster University, and is the director of the Calcium Disorders Clinic at McMaster University Medical Centre. Dr. Khan is a graduate of the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine and has published more than 200 scientific publications on osteoporosis and parathyroid disease, as well as numerous books and book chapters. In 2019, she was recognized as being in the top 0.1% of the world experts in hyperparathyroidism by Expertscape.
At Osteoporosis Canada, Dr. Khan is the chair of the Rapid Response Committee and co-chair of the Knowledge Translation Committee. She is a scientific advisor of the International Osteoporosis Foundation and the Canadian ambassador for the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research. Dr. Khan has received numerous national and international awards, including the International Hypoparathyroidism Award in 2014, and the International Osteoporosis Foundation award for publishing excellence in 2017, and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012 for excellence in clinical care, research and teaching.
