Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)

The Association is a mutual defence organization of Canadian medical doctors. Formed in 1901, incorporated by Act of Parliament in 1913, and operated since on a not-for-profit basis by physicians and for physicians, the CMPA includes in its membership almost all Canadian medical doctors in active practice in Canada. Because one of the prerequisites of membership is licensure or registration by a medical licensing authority, it is not possible for medical students to become members of the CMPA.
