Membership

Membership with the Ontario Medical Association (OMA) has many benefits for Ontario medical students. On top of taking pride in being a student member of your provincial professional association, you will also automatically become a member of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) and receive all the benefits of that membership as well.

The OMA represents the medical profession to the government on important topics like medical economics, legislation, regulations and education. As a student member, you will receive information and continuous updates on all efforts in these areas and will have avenues to become involved in the medical politics of the province.

The benefits of membership are many and range from leadership training to conference funding. Student members of the OMA receive $100,000 of free life insurance and can obtain disability insurance through OMA Insurance Services.

Students will receive Scrub-In, the OMA’s publication for Ontario medical students three times a year as well as the Ontario Medical Review every month as part of their membership.

Through the Association, students will have access to financial assistance through a range of programs and bursaries specifically designed for Ontario medical students and can utilize the services of MD Management through their CMA membership.

Another important benefit of being a student member of the Association is the Mentorship Program, a province-wide initiative of the OMA. The Mentorship Program facilitates mentorship opportunities between Ontario medical students and practicing physicians and has grown to include more than 375 mentor-student relationship!

Membership with the OMA runs from January 1 through December 31 each year and is only $22.00 a year! Please complete the application form and return it to us along with your chosen method of payment.
