Financial Assistance
OMA
The Ontario Medical Student Bursary Fund (OMSBF) is a cooperative
effort of the Ontario Medical Association (OMA), the Ontario Medical
Foundation (OMF), Ontario Faculties of Medicine and donors including
individual physicians, corporations, foundations and others who wish to
help safeguard the future of medicine in Ontario. OMSBF bursaries will be
directed to needy medical students studying at Ontario's participating
Faculties of Medicine. Bursaries in the amount of $3,000 are available to Ontario medical students.
Each year the Ontario Medical Association awards two prizes of $500 to
Ontario's six medical schools. These prizes are used to help student
members finance electives in rural and remote areas throughout Canada, as
well as in developing nations. For more information about the Ontario
Medical Foundation Elective Bursaries, please contact the OMSBF for more
information.
Funding of up to $500 is available for selected OMA student members to
attend approved medical conferences in both Canada and abroad. All
applications are reviewed by fellow students and those selected candidates
are invited to submit conference reports for possible publication in the
Ontario Medical Review. Application forms and the guidelines for the
applications can be retrieved from the provided link.
If you have difficulty with the above link, please contact the Student
Relations Department.
The Final Year Medical Student Bursary provides a bursary of $500 per month, paid quarterly, to students in their final 12 months of study in an Ontario medical school.
