The Canadian Federation of Medical Students (CFMS), was founded in
1979. It's a national medical student organization, with approximately
5,000 members from the 13 english-language medical schools in Canada.
There are three key roles that the CFMS plays they are: Representation,
Services and Communications.
The Council of Ontario Faculties of Medicine (COFM), monitors admission
requirements for the five Ontario medical schools, and negotiates with the
provincial government for the number of postgraduate positions to be
funded.
The Association of Canadian Medical Colleges (ACMC) is comprised of the
deans of the 16 medical schools. The ACMC is involved in accreditation of
medical schools and provides direction for medical curricula.
