With the Ontario Medical Association's 25,000 physician membership, we are the voice of the profession. The association is dedicated to protecting the professional and personal interests of our members. We have exclusive negotiating rights to negotiate terms and conditions of service on behalf of all doctors in Ontario. The services stretch far beyond just the benefits of uniting the voices of 25,000 other physicians:

Financial assistance

We can help you take care of those financial burdens as you make your way through medical school with initiatives and programs such as the Ontario Medical Student Bursary Fund, the OMA Student Loans Fund, Student Leadership Development Subsidy Program, and the Ontario Medical Foundation Elective Bursaries.

Training and Services

Whether it's low cost insurance you are seeking, computer skills seminars, placement services, practice management or policy analysis and research, these services are all covered in your membership. We also offer career sessions, leadership skills seminars, and other programs that are designed to prepare you for a rewarding career in medicine. As well, our Government Relations department can help you become more involved politically and teach you the little tricks of the trade when it comes to meeting politicians at all levels.

Keep up to date

At no extra charge, copies of the Ontario Medical Review and the Canadian Medical Association Journal will be delivered to your door so you can keep up to date on the latest developments. In addition, during negotiations and other important issues of interest to doctors, the membership is able to keep updated via communication from the president. And, what's even better is that students who join the OMA are automatically members of the Student Section of the OMA (SSOMA). Plus, it's a joint membership with the CMA!
